Toyota Chaser is a Japanese passenger car of the lower-middle and middle-class car, produced by Toyota Motor Corporation, which was first presented to the general public in 1977. Its production started in the same year and lasted until 2001.
The Chaser model was developed and put into production in order to expand the commercial offer of the Toyota concern, as well as to strengthen its position on the market in the segment – initially compact cars, and later the middle class. The first generation of the Chaser model was very similar to the Corona and Crown models, it also used the same components and mechanical elements. First of all, it differed slightly in size and style. In the following generations this similarity did not disappear in a special way, but from 1980 the Toyota Chaser was positioned as a middle class car. It could be purchased in such body versions as: 4-door sedan or 2-door hardtop. The last, 6th generation of Toyota Chaser entered production in 1996. In the offer of the Toyota concern it was replaced by the Verossa model.
