Toyota Hilux is a Japanese pick-up car produced by Toyota Motor Corporation, which was first presented to the public in 1968. Its production started the same year and is still going on, which means that the model has been in production for 50 years! Its production took place, among others, in the cities of Hamura and Tahara in Japan.

The Hilux model was developed and put into production in order to expand the commercial offer of the Toyota concern, as well as a successor to the Stout model. Compared to its predecessor, it was more reliable, it was also powered by a wider range of engines with a capacity of 1.5 to 2.0 litres. Theoretically, it also provided a higher comfort of traveling, but in this aspect the difference between the Stout model and the first generation of Hilux was marginal. This condition significantly improved with the appearance of the 2nd and 3rd generations. Initially, Toyota Hilum was dedicated primarily to the Japanese and American markets, but it began to be exported relatively quickly to other parts of the world, especially to Asian countries. As many as eight generations of this vehicle were produced in the course of production, the last of which went into production in 2015, offering a wide range of engines with a capacity of 2.0 to 4.0 litres.
