Build the NuNu Audi A4 BTCC 1996 Champion in 1:24 scale with this car model kit.

What is BTCC 1996?
The 1996 Auto Trader RAC British Touring Car Championship season signified the debut of Audi in the sport with their four-wheel-drive A4s. Frank Biela secured the championship title, while Swiss driver Alain Menu once again clinched second place, and Swede Rickard Rydell claimed third.

Introduction of the Car
Following Audi’s introduction of 4WD technology in the realm of rallying, showcasing its formidable capabilities, the next ambition was to challenge 4WD in circuit racing. Built on the foundation of the A4 Quattro 4-door sedan, this car made its first appearance in Class 2 touring car racing in 1995. In the subsequent year, 1996, it also entered the BTCC in England.

Under the hood resided a longitudinally mounted inline 4-cylinder 2-litre engine producing over 300 horsepower. Power was distributed to all four wheels through a quattro system coupled with a six-speed sequential gearbox.

Despite a 100 kg “weight handicap” imposed on the 2WD machines, the 4WD A4 secured the championship with driver Frank Biela.

This was a remarkable testament to the efficacy of 4WD in circuit racing on paved surfaces.

The paints below follow the kit’s box recommendations. Choose only what you need—you can use alternatives and remove unwanted bundle paints at checkout.

For car bodies and motorcycle panels, we recommend a spray can in the main colour for the best finish. One can is enough for one kit.

We list Tamiya paints for Tamiya kits and Mr Hobby paint codes for other brands. Primers and clear coats are also available in our paint section.

To find colour matches between paint brands, use our Paint Converter.

We have tools for every budget, all available in our Tools section. For first-time builders and gift-givers, the products below are a practical way to get started. We especially recommend the Kit Building Bundle for beginners, as you only need this and your chosen paint colours to build a kit.

Although there is an initial outlay, these tools will last for many future builds and make model building more enjoyable. As with most things in life, having the right tools for the job produces better results. For higher-end tools, explore our Mr Hobby ranges.

If you build models regularly and value long-lasting tools and support products that help achieve the best possible finish, we have a wide range of quality items from Mr Hobby and Tamiya in our main menu. Here are some useful products to consider:
